A virtual concept for Electronica will replace the traditional exhibition this year
Electronica 2020
Messe München has recently announced that a virtual event will replace the in-person trade fair in Munich with an online conference for electronics taking place on Monday 9th November and will finish on Thursday 12th November. The event last took place in person in 2018, rediscover the highlights here.
The travel restrictions in Europe are becoming more stringent and have impacted the event organisers decision to host the conference digitally this year. The digital format will present exhibitors with the opportunity to book digital trade fair booths and provide additional ways for exhibitors to interact and network with attendees. A large portion of the conference and supporting program will also be available digitally.
Falk Senger, Managing Director of Messe Munchen said, “Even though an in-person trade fair could have been conducted with the help of our safety and hygiene concept, the latest developments related to travel restrictions in many countries forced us to rethink our plans. We are adapting these plans to this dynamic situation and are now focusing solely on our visual format. International exhibitors and visitors are at the heart of electronica. In light of current Covid-19 conditions, we would not have been able to meet the expectations with an in-person trade fair.”
The virtual format will provide the electronics industry with a platform for global industry discussions in November. Aside from virtual trade fair booths, there will be a digital conference and supporting program, Individual talks and panel discussions on trend topics like the automotive industry, embedded systems, 5G, medical electronics and smart energy will all be available online.
