Electronic Devices Inc. was established in 1951 in Brooklyn (New York) as a manufacturer of low voltage selenium rectifiers for the home entertainment market.

In 1963 the company moved its head office to its current location in Yonkers, New York. The company has three locations – Yonkers (New York), Fujian (China) and Nagold (Germany).

EDI was renowned in the television industry in 1960’s, supplying diodes for television multipliers to U.S. television builders RCA and Zenith and in Europe to Phillips and ITT. In 1970 the company decided to move away from the commodity-type rectifier business because the eastern price competition became more fierce.

Today, the business focuses on being a supplier of high performance products, consisting of: specialised silicon rectifiers, standard and special high voltage assemblies, rectifier bridges, surface mount devices and diode arrays.

EDI manufactures approximately 95% of it’s products complete, the rest of the products are purchased with the EDI brand and sold or assembled in to special packages. The leading manufacturer specialises in bridge rectifiers, axial lead rectifiers, night vision diodes, assemblies and surface mount devices.
