The Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show took place this year on 2nd – 3rd October at Manchester’s EventCity.

This year the show decided to partner with several national and regional companies, with the event being supported by two main regional aerospace and automotive organisations, the north West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) and the Northern Automotive (NAA).
The show is a must-attend event for anyone involved in the design, engineering production and procurement and didn’t disappoint visitors. It combined the latest production in hardware, components, consumables and technology serving a wide range of industries such as Aerospace, defence, automotive, electronics assembly, production, industrial machinery, energy, marine, medical, mechanical engineering, packaging, handling and logistics.
According to Design Products and Applications magazine, the aerospace sector in the North West accounts for approximately a quarter of the UK’s £32bn aerospace business, employs 25,000 skilled workers and supports a rich eco-system of suppliers throughout the country. The North West automotive cluster employs 16,200 people and directly generates £9bn (12% of the total UK automotive manufacturing output).
This year’s exhibition highlights included:
Igus
Global polymer specialist, igus showcased its popular energy chains, bearings, linear guides, flexible cables, stock bar and stock plate materials. The company offers an extensive range of maintenance and lubrication-free products which are designed to cut costs and increase the service life of modern machinery. Products also offer corrosion-wear, environmental and debris-resistance advantages over traditional materials.
Calman Technology
HMI specialist Calman Technology highlighted their capabilities as a custom manufacturer of membrane keypads, graphic overlays, label products and associated electronics.
Crystal-Tech Electronics
Crystal-Tech Electronics showcased an impressive range of TFT LCD display modules suitable for numerous applications ranging form consumer to medical. Their TFT LCD displays are available in sizes from 1.3inch to 15.6inches, standard or fully customised touchscreens and IPD technology, providing exceptional wide viewing angles and high contrast.
ESI Technology
ESI Technology showcased their pioneering silicon-on-sapphire sensor technology in a wide range of industrial sectors, including: oil and gas, subsea, aerospace, defence, hydraulics, depth/level, hazardous areas, automotive, process and industrial OEM markets.
Ringspann UK
Ringspann was a major new exhibitor to the Northern Manufacturing & Electronics Show this year, they provide a wide range of power transmission components for the industry and associated hardware such as brakes, overload clutches and condition monitoring.
Other new exhibitors this year included: Eurotherm – a specialist in process control, recording and automation, Tritec Systems Ltd – a UK based systems integrator providing industrial automation and control systems, software, support and maintenance services to customers in automotive, renewable energy, food and drink, manufacturing, paper, pharmaceutical, water and utilities sectors.
