In regards to wind turbine developments, one solution is to increase the voltage up to the 10000VAC (1500VDC) low-voltage directive limit, which Semikron’s SEMITRANS 10 MLI, a 3-Level NPC module enables the engineer to do. Using 3-level topologies enables engineers to cut converter losses, cable losses or diameters can be reduced by around 30 percent.
