Celebrating a successful Macmillan Coffee Morning

We’re proud to have hosted our second Macmillan Coffee Morning last week

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2024

On Wednesday 25th September, and for the second year running, we took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and we are delighted to announce we have raised £1,203.82, almost doubling the efforts of our first year. This support will make a huge difference in helping Macmillan Cancer Support continue their life-changing work.

Why supporting Macmillan matters

Macmillan Coffee Mornings are more than just an excuse to indulge in coffee and cake—they’re a lifeline for those affected by cancer. Since 1990, the simple idea, which started off as a small affair, has since brought together millions of people from across the UK to have fun and raise money for a good cause. Now key event in the diaries of communities across the country, the September Coffee Morning has gone from strength to strength. In 2023, Macmillan raised over £18 million through Coffee Mornings, and this money has a real impact. It helps Macmillan provide nurses, information services, and emotional support for those in need. They’ve even expanded their digital and remote services, so anyone can access help no matter where they are. The service that Macmillan Cancer Support provides is essential for individuals and families coping with a cancer diagnosis.

Our contribution of £1,203.82 may seem small, but every single pound makes a difference. Each donation helps Macmillan continue its mission of making sure no one faces cancer alone.

The coffee morning itself was an incredible success, with a huge spread of delicious homemade cakes including; Victoria sponge, carrot cake, coconut sponge, biscoff brownies, fudge, and various other bakes that had everyone coming back for seconds. The star of the show was a homemade chicken biryani and vegetable curry made by our very own Mechanical Assembler. And a special mention to our Rich our Sales Exec for making not one but three homemade jams and two sourdough loaves of bread! The atmosphere was buzzing with conversations, smiles, and a shared commitment to helping others. It was inspiring to see so many people, from seasoned bakers to first-time cake decorators, come together for such an important cause. Whether you donated, baked, or simply attended, your involvement is truly appreciated.

This year saw the launch of our first ever Macmillan raffle, the 37 prizes worth over £780 got everyone talking. We had some incredible prizes donated by generous local businesses including: Slinfold Golf Club, Bluecoat Sports, Domino’s, SmOque Burger, Hampers.com, Major Mindgames, Bake Out, Tiny Rebel, Haywards Heath Golf Club and Firebird Brewery.

Macmillan Coffee Mornings – our ongoing impact

While our Coffee Morning has wrapped up, the opportunity to support Macmillan doesn’t end here. Donations are still coming in, and if you couldn’t make it to the event but would still like to contribute, it’s not too late! Every contribution, no matter how small, will help Macmillan continue to provide its vital services. Here is our donation page.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the event. Whether you baked a cake, made a donation, or just enjoyed a coffee with us, you’ve helped us make a real difference in the fight against cancer. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to support Macmillan’s incredible work.
